ODA will design a 10-story, garage-replacing Dumbo building

Last week, a Jehovah’s Witnesses-owned single-story Garage in Dumbo sold to a developer; now plans have been filed for the site located at 74 Adams Street (with an alternate address of 98 Front Street). YIMBY first reported on the plans, which will see the creation of 165 apartments spread out over 10 floors.
Plans submitted with the city’s Department of Buildings reveal that developer Hope Street Capital has brought on ODA Architecture to design the building. ODA is also behind the design of the warehouse-turned-condos at 51 Jay Street (also in Dumbo), and the under-construction office building at 10 Jay Street, which features a glass facade inspired by sugar crystals.
The apartments at 98 Front Street will measure 877 square feet on average and will take up a total of 144,750 within the building. There’s an additional 600 square feet set aside for commercial space. From what we know right now there are plans for a rooftop deck, a recreation room in the basement level, and some apartments will have private terraces.
Demolition plans were filed back in September, which means construction on the new (presumably rental) building won’t be too far in the offing.
