550 Clinton Avenue Reaches 29-Story Pinnacle In Clinton Hill, Brooklyn
Construction has topped out on 550 Clinton Avenue, a 29-story residential tower in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the structure rises from a four-story podium bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west. The 280,000-square-foot development will yield 284 apartments and about 60,000 square feet of retail area.
New photographs show the façade climbing up along the flat and angled edges of the floor plates. The mechanical extension atop the roof was seen being finished with the last assembly of concrete formwork creating the outer walls. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels on the wide eastern and western sides are being wedged between the concrete fenestration.
Meanwhile the construction crane continues to swivel and hoist materials up and down the superstructure. For now the isolated position of the building gives it abundant natural light exposure, and the only nearby building of significant height is COOKFOX’s 550 Vanderbilt Avenue, which is located across the open-air rail lines to the south. This will eventually change once the Pacific Park mega development is eventually completed and covers the tracks.
550 Clinton Avenue will feature an outdoor pool on the top of the podium. Additional amenities located within the podium include a fitness center, indoor lounge areas, and a co-working center. These would all rest above ground-floor retail space. YIMBY last reported that Hope Street Capital is planning to fund repairs for the adjacent Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew, including a partial replacement of the historic belfry, colonettes, and areas of degradation in the masonry façade.
It looks like 550 Clinton Avenue could be finished in the latter half of this year.
